The interview of 5 new children to join our residential unit was carried out by the management on Wednesday 06 August, 2014 at Terre de Paix, Camp creoles, Albion.

In fact, these meetings are more friendly encounters than formal interviews with the children needing longer duration alternative care.

Necessary information is gathered for an overall assessment of the child in the first instance. This will be used to prepare the ‘plan de vie’ of the child when he comes to our residence.

An acceptance letter will soon be issued to the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare for the purpose of securing a committal order from respective district courts.

Je m’appelle Tamara et viens de Genève en Suisse. Depuis quelques années, j’ai la chance de pouvoir venir passer mes vacances à
Maurice. Je suis tombée amoureuse de cette île et de ses habitants. Lors de mes séjours, j’aime aller à la rencontre des gens,souvent des enfants ; on échange quelques mots, on joue dans l’eau. Et c’est là que j’ai pu constater que souvent, ces petits avaient des dents dans un mauvais état. Pourquoi ?
Le dentiste est pourtant gratuit à Maurice. Je me suis renseignée afin de comprendre ce qui était fait au niveau de la prévention dentaire. Il y aurait un manque de connaissance sur le sujet, ceci malheureusement dû probablement à d’autres préoccupations plus « vitales », plus « urgentes ». C’est alors que l’idée de faire un projet de sensibilisation à l’hygiène bucco-dentaire est née. Partir 1 mois expliquer l’importance de l’hygiène bucco- dentaire et parler des méfaits du sucre à quelques dizaines d’enfants mauriciens. Continue reading →

On the 8th August, 2014 the staff of Maersk organized a whole day activity with 7 children from one of our Foster Homes, together with their foster parents.
Their coaster picked up the children together with their foster parents at their place at 9:30 am.
We reached La Croisette Star cinema at around 10:30 where the children were able to watch the screening “PLANES 2”.
After the movie, we went for lunch at Macdonald Grand Baie.
After lunch the children had indoor activities in the children’s corner.
The children were overwhelmed by their day.

On the 7th August, 2014 the staff of the American Embassy organized a whole day activity with the participation of 49 children of our residential care units together with their foster parents.
The whole group arrived at Casela at 9:00 am. The tour was organised in a way that each member of the staff of the American Embassy accompanied a small group of children together with their foster mother. Both the children and the accompanying persons were very appreciative of the various attractions of the park and had real fun in their discoveries.
After Casela, we left for Flic en Flac Beach where the staff separated the children in different groups, according to their age group to participate in various activities such as musical challenge, tug of war and bottle filling.
